Nautilos, has been recognized by the “Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters” for its significant contributions to protecting and restoring marine and freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity. The recognition is a testament to Nautilos’ commitment to preserving the environment and promoting sustainable practices in the blue economy.
Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters is an initiative launched by the European Union to protect and restore marine and freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity. The mission has set three primary objectives: protecting and restoring marine and freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity, preventing and eliminating pollution of oceans, seas, and waters, and promoting a sustainable blue economy.
Nautilos’ actions have played a central role in delivering against and contributing to these objectives. Nautilos’ efforts have also been in line with the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030, the EU Action Plan Towards Zero Pollution for Air, Water and Soil, and the Sustainable Blue Economy Strategy.
In carrying out its activities, Nautilos has also been committed to supporting the EU Ocean knowledge system and respecting the FAIR principle in relation to knowledge and data. The project has involved citizens in the decision-making process through its citizen science initiatives, stimulated investments from public and private sources with the development of a new generation of cost-effective sensors and samplers, shared knowledge and experience, and collaborated with other Mission actors
The recognition by Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters is a significant achievement for Nautilos, and it reflects the project’s dedication to preserving the environment and promoting sustainable practices in the blue economy.
