We are pleased to share the successful culmination of the Nautilos Summer School, which took place against the scenic backdrop of Oslo, Norway, from September 4th to September 7th, 2023. This four-day program was meticulously designed to cater to the educational needs of early career scientists and marine technicians, specifically focusing on the crucial subject of Marine Litter.
Our educational journey commenced on September 4th, 2023, with an engaging opening day hosted at the renowned Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA), one of our Nautilos partners. Subsequent days unfolded at the OceanLab facilities of OsloMet University, strategically located along the picturesque Oslo fjord. This combination of academic excellence and practical application provided a dynamic learning environment that significantly provided an enriching experience for our participants, comprising 17 enthusiastic individuals representing a diverse array of institutions.
The Nautilos Summer School offered an immersive exploration into the intricate realm of marine litter management, with its primary objective being to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge required to effectively address the pressing issue of marine litter. Throughout the duration of the course, attendees actively participated in a diverse array of educational activities, including enlightening lectures, engaging discussions, hands-on practical exercises encompassing sampling and measurements, as well as the critical interpretation of marine data.
