Dr Eva Chatzinikolaou and Niki Keklikoglou from HCMR-IMBBC collaborated with the Municipality of Heraklion (Deputy Mayor of Cleanliness, Environment and Energy) and the company Follow Green and organized an event for 70 students of the 40th and 43rd Primary Schools of Heraklion (Crete) on the 2nd and 5th of April 2024. During the event IMBBC scientists presented the impact of plastic and micro-plastic pollution in the ocean and the marine organisms, while employees of the Cleanliness and Recycling Department of the Municipality explained the procedures of litter management and recycling. Finally, the students participated in a beach cleaning campaign organised in the local beach of Xiropotamos on 20/5/2024.
