NIVA is organizing a project with Inspiria Science Center and OceanObs, where High School students go out with the MS Ny Vigra III to collect microplastics. The students have already participated in 3 cruises during May 2024, where the USV “Pamela” with attached net collected microplastic in the Outer Oslofjorden area. The samples are at NIVA for further analysis. In addition, the NIR smartphone scanner was used to identify polymers of bigger plastic objects collected through soft bottom trawl.
